IRVINE, CA — March 16th, 2026: Today, COROS announces the launch of COROS HYDROP, a fishing accessory designed to bring data-driven intelligence to fishing. HYDROP provides real-time, accurate information about the water temperature, color, depth, and brightness below the surface. With that information, anglers can then strategically choose lure type, color, where to fish, and at what depth to find more success on the water.
HYDROP builds on COROS’ mission to help people across the world use technology to get closer to the sports they love.
What to Know about HYDROP
- Portable Underwater Scout — Ultra-light and easy to cast, HYDROP easily packs in any anglers tackle box.
- Real-Time Water Information — Measures depth, temperature stratification, water color & brightness across the water column that is displayed on a COROS watch immediately after retrieval.
- Deeper Fishing Insights — Helps anglers choose the right lure color, depth, and retrieval speed based on actual water conditions.
- Easy Cast-and-Measure Set-Up — Shake to wake, cast, and reel-in to view data directly on a COROS watch in just a few minutes.
- Advanced Multi-Sensor System — Combines barometer, temperature, accelerometer, and RGB light sensors to provide detailed information.
- Fishing Journal — All information recorded by HYDROP is saved in the COROS app to better plan for fishing trips in the future.
An Underwater Scout
COROS HYDROP acts as an extension of an angler’s senses, combining advanced sensor technology with a compact, castable design. It delivers real-time insight into water depth, temperature layers, water color over depth, and brightness over depth, enabling anglers to better understand fish behavior and underwater structure.
By revealing underwater conditions, HYDROP helps anglers:
- Identify productive zones
- Target the most active water layers
- Optimize lure color, type, and retrieval speed
- Make faster and more confident fishing decisions
“HYDROP represents a new era of fishing technology,” said Lewis Wu, CEO and Co-Founder of COROS. “Our goal was to build a device that provides meaningful, easy-to-use data for anglers of all levels to have more success on the water.”
Designed for All Anglers
Created for recreational and competitive anglers alike, HYDROP supports a wide range of fishing styles and environments:
- Shore
- Boat (bass boat, walleye, inshore & offshore)
- Kayak
- Fly fishermen
- Fresh and saltwater anglers
In addition to choosing lures and targeting water layers, HYDROP helps to locate productive water, repeat successful casts, map underwater structures, and build a long-term fishing log with historical water condition tracking.
Advanced Fishing Tools
The information recorded by COROS HYDROP is directly transmitted to the watch and app and displayed as visual charts and graphs, enabling quick and confident decision-making even during fishing trips.
With every cast, detailed data is automatically recorded on the Explore Page in the COROS app. Water depth, water temperature, water color, underwater brightness, and water conditions are tagged to a Pin. This lets anglers look back at previous fishing spots and build a fishing journal to help better inform them of what worked, and why.
Availability
COROS HYDROP will be available globally starting March 16th at $89 USD, on COROS.com/HYDROP and select retailers worldwide.
