When Dylan Scott crossed the finish line and claimed the World Championship, years of work culminated in a single moment."It feels like validation. There were a lot of sacrifices and risks taken and gratification delayed to get to this moment and this feels like it was all worth it."
Along the journey, Dylan had setbacks, injuries, and moments of doubt. When items seemed to work against him, he found confidence in controlling what he could, and ensuring efficiency with his time.
"I've always prided myself in being a gritty, no-quit kind of person. I might stumble, I might fail along the way, but I see that as part of the pursuit and not a reason to back down."
Hungry or Starving?
Dylan and his doubles partner, Stephen Pelkofer, ask this question often. "Are you hungry or starving?"
Dylan notes, "A lot of people in this space are hungry for success. But to be starving for it means something different. It's another level above. Where you will take risk, deal with the pain and give everything in the pursuit."
Dylan's athletic background began with distance running in high school and college before a significant back injury derailed his progress. After rebuilding his health and returning to consistent training, Dylan found his way into hybrid fitness competition, bringing together the endurance background of a runner with the strength demands of a modern hybrid athlete.
As his training evolved, so did his understanding of performance. At the highest level, effort alone isn't enough. Aiming to be the best version of himself, Dylan dove headfirst into the world of athletic performance data.
Finding His Product: COROS
By the winter of 2025, Dylan had tried many different products within the wearable space. Seeking a device that would provide him with the insights required, he purchased his first COROS PACE 4 and COROS Heart Rate Monitor.
"I feel like data is only truly useful if it's accurate...The recovery metrics and sleep data matched my subjective feelings..Simply, it worked better than anything else I had tried."
Fast forward to April 2026 and Dylan reached out to us at COROS to explore a partnership not only for sponsorship reasons, but more importantly to continue to push the sport forward with a product that has proven meaningful in his journey.
Inside Dylan Scott's Training & Recovery
Dylan Scott trains a lot. While it may not come as a surprise that the world champion was putting in the hours, the keys to success come in being able to push, while also monitoring your recovery and adaptation over time.
Volume and Training Zones

During the 12 weeks leading up to World Championships, Dylan logged exactly 300 hours of activity. Of that time, he spent 81% in Zones 1 & 2 (low intensity), and 19% in Zones 3-6 (moderate & high intensity). While each individual week was structured to meet his training goals, Dylan's overall average followed the science-backed 80/20 rule of intensity.

Overall Fitness Improvement
Dylan's heaviest training block was from April 22nd through May 24th. His Base Fitness climbed from 217 to a peak of 255, while keeping his Training Status in the 'Optimized' zone. For the final three weeks, Dylan went into the 'Maintaining' zone, before tapering into the 'Performance' zone on race day.

Recovery and Adaptation
While Dylan added stress through training, the best metrics to gauge recovery and adaptation were Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and Resting Heart Rate (RHR). As athletes build excessive fatigue, their body will either adapt stronger, or become fragile. Throughout the duration of Dylan's build, his HRV remained within baseline, and his RHR showed no spikes. In other words, his body was adapting, becoming stronger, and provided him the confidence to keep pushing.

The Championship Moment
With his training finished, and mind strong, Dylan took to the start line for a shot at glory. Early into the race, Dylan blended into the back of the pack with a calculated approach based on his training insights. "The biggest asset for me in my race plan is tracking my HR early on. It prevents me from making the mistake of pushing too hard before the sleds."

While many athletes will spike their heart rate and try to hold steady, Dylan was taking a more gradual approach to his world championship effort. "The turning point was the burpees. I knew I put myself back in the game there." During burpees, Dylan built his heart rate into the 170's. Carrying this momentum, Dylan leaned into his aerobic base by smashing the row into 1km run at 183 bpm (his max of the competition)
Moving onto the last station of wall balls, Dylan still wasn't sure if he had done enough. "I didn't think I had a shot until I heard them announce I took the lead at wall balls at 97 reps...Once it hit 100 and I got a step on Tim, I was like, 'Oh my God. I'm going to take this.'"
When it was all said and done, Dylan Scott was crowned World Champion. While these 53+ minutes were made up of effort, grit, and excitement, they were only possible given the 300+ hours he had put in the months leading in. With a calculated build, and focused approach, Dylan was able to maximize his potential on the world's greatest stage.
Building the Future Together

Dylan and COROS both acknowledge there is much work to do going forward. The product is accurate, and the championship has been achieved, but how can we work closer together to enhance the experience of athletes globally? "We all want a wearable in the space that can give us insights specific to the sport...I want to work with COROS to create things that capture the race so that it can be best trained for."
While Dylan has unlocked his approach, we are dedicated to collecting feedback, performing research, and building intuitive solutions together to enhance the sport overall. We celebrate Dylan's moment (rightfully so) and are eager to build this partnership into a resource for the millions of hybrid athletes pushing their own limits.
Stay tuned as we dig deeper, and bring insights to the industry that lift all of us together.
